Dubai has no shortage of people who can animate a logo. What is harder to find is someone who has sat in a broadcast pipeline — where a graphics package has to be legible at a glance, brand-consistent across a hundred episodes, deliverable on a fixed transmission date and correct in two languages. That is the work I do every week for Almashhad, a Dubai-based Arabic news and entertainment channel, and it is the standard I bring to everything else.

I'm Huzaifa Rafiq — a motion graphics designer and 3D artist working out of Dubai, United Arab Emirates. My work covers news and programme openers, title sequences, channel idents and lower-third systems, 3D animation and product films built in Blender, 2D explainers, and generative AI video. Roughly half of it goes to air in Arabic.

Why broadcast experience changes the work

Most motion design briefs are judged on a single hero render. Broadcast is judged on the hundredth playout. That difference shapes how I build:

Systems, not one-offs. A programme package is a set of rules — type scale, safe areas, colour, timing — that anyone in the gallery can extend without asking me.
Legibility under pressure. Broadcast type has to read on a phone in a feed and across a room on a television. Those are different problems and both have to be solved.
Right-to-left is a design decision, not a translation step. Arabic layouts need their own rhythm, weight and reveal. Retrofitting Arabic into an English lockup is the single most common failure I see in this market.
Delivery is part of the craft. Correct codecs, correct alpha, correct frame rates, versioned project files, render farms that finish before the show does.

Broadcast work runs through Almashhad, where I design on-air graphics that reach audiences across the Middle East on television and smart-TV platforms. Alongside that I've spent five-plus years producing motion and video for software and technology companies — among them Securiti AI, Data Science Dojo, Trout, ABIC, Letscodify, Ignite Labs, TCC Wireless and Metro by T-Mobile. Those two worlds pull in useful opposite directions: broadcast teaches restraint and systems, tech teaches speed and clarity.

Recognised work

The visual identity, logo and title design I created for the Almashhad talk show Andi Soual (‘I Have a Question’) contributed to a show that was named an Apple Podcasts Best of 2025 selection and won the Shams Award for Best Arabic Podcast 2025. It remains the clearest example of what I mean by identity work: a silhouette language, a logo, a title sequence and a studio background that all came from one idea about curiosity.
