Andi Soual — a show identity built on silhouette

Visual identity, logo, title sequence, on-air animations and studio background graphics for an Arabic talk show about asking questions. Apple Podcasts Best of 2025. Shams Award for Best Arabic Podcast 2025.

Andi Soual — title sequence and visual identity, Almashhad TV, 2024.

The brief

Andi Soual — ‘I Have a Question’ (عندي سؤال) — is a talk show on Almashhad built around the act of asking. Not interrogation, not debate: curiosity. The identity had to carry that in a form that worked as a logo, a title sequence, an on-screen graphics package and a physical studio background, in Arabic, on a schedule.

The idea

A question is a person leaning toward something they don't yet understand. So the whole language became silhouette — figures reduced to shape and posture, where you read intent from a lean and a gesture rather than a face. Silhouettes solve three problems at once: they are graphically bold at any size, they stay neutral about who is asking, and they let 3D elements sit inside a flat 2D world without the seams showing.

Building it

The bulk of the sequence is 2D silhouette animation built in After Effects, with 3D elements layered in to give depth to specific beats. Artwork was constructed in Photoshop; the edit and finishing ran through Premiere Pro. The same silhouette system was extended into the show's logo, its custom on-air animations, and the After Effects studio background graphics that appear behind the host.

That last part is the piece people underestimate. A studio background is not a title card — it plays for forty minutes behind a live conversation, so it has to be interesting enough to notice once and calm enough to never compete with a face. Different timing rules, same visual language.

Result

Andi Soual was named an Apple Podcasts Best of 2025 selection and won the Shams Award for Best Arabic Podcast 2025. Awards go to shows, not to graphics packages — but an identity that holds up across a full season is part of why a show reads as a proper show rather than a recording of a conversation.
