Showreel 2026

Broadcast, brand and experimental motion cut tight to the track. Under ninety seconds, because a reel that needs longer than that is not a reel — it is an archive.

Showreel 2026 — Huzaifa Rafiq, motion graphics designer and 3D artist, Dubai.

What a reel is for

A showreel is not a portfolio. A portfolio explains; a reel decides. Most of the people who watch it are deciding within the first eight seconds whether to keep watching, and they are not reading credits while they do it.

So this one opens on the strongest shot in the set rather than building to it, and it does not include a title card explaining what is about to happen.

Cut to the track

Every cut lands on the music. That sounds obvious and it is the single most common thing missing from motion reels — sequences that are individually good and edited as though the audio were not there. Cutting to the track is what turns a set of clips into ninety seconds that feel like one piece of work.

Where a shot did not fit the rhythm, it was retimed rather than shortened, so the internal pacing of the original piece survives the edit.
