A cinematic Arabic title sequence

Smoke, embers and metallic Arabic typography — a hybrid build where Blender 3D handles the type and lighting and generative AI supplies the atmosphere that would otherwise cost a week of simulation.

Cinematic Title Sequence, Almashhad TV, 2025.

Where the hybrid line falls

This sequence is the clearest example of what a mixed pipeline actually looks like in practice. Generative AI is very good at atmosphere — smoke, embers, dust, light haze — and reliably bad at anything that has to be exact, which in a title sequence means the type.

So the split is drawn along that line. Arabic lettering, its metal shading and the key lighting are built in Blender 3D, where every letterform stays under control. The atmospheric passes come from Runway ML and are treated as elements, not shots: graded, retimed and composited into the plate in After Effects like any other stock or simulation layer.

Why the type could not be generated

Arabic is a connected script. Letterforms change shape according to their position in a word, and the join between them carries meaning. Generative tools do not reliably preserve that — they produce shapes that look like Arabic to someone who does not read it. For broadcast that is not a stylistic risk, it is an error that goes to air.

This is a specific and under-discussed problem in the region. More on it in Arabic motion graphics and in Why Arabic motion graphics fail.

Decisions worth naming

Tooling honestly

Generative video earns its place here because it beats the traditional route on time for one specific class of element. It does not replace the 3D build, and pretending otherwise produces the kind of sequence that looks impressive in a still and falls apart in motion. See AI video and generative motion.
